Rotaract marks month with career talkRotaract Club of University of Calabar have marked its Vocational service month with pomp and pageantry.The annual vocational service month of this year was marked with the holding of career talk at different schools of interest within Calabar environs.
Delivering a lecture on choice of career at Ntiat/Mbaki comprehensive secondary school, the Club's President, Rotr.Joel Bassey told the students to make choice of Career based on the available career employment chances, and their passion for the career in question. He emphasized that overtime students make wrong choices of career in life owed to influences from parents, peers etc.He then advised parents to give their children the free-hand to make choice of career based on their love and talent for the career.The career talk was also held at Community Secondary school Mbak Atai,Calabar.
Fielding questions with CAMPUSLIFE, the Club President, Rotr. Joel Bassey remarked
that the choice of career talk as part of activities marking this year's annual vocational service month was borne out of the desire to clear the confusion students are frequently confronted with in terms of choosing a career. He further stated that the move was also in line with the mother-body, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL quest to reduce the world's illiteracy rate.A Principal, at one of the beneficiary Secondary school, Mr.Emah lauded the efforts of the club saying that 'it is good to see Youths embark on such initiative which will open the eyes of the young ones'The Month of October every year is celebrated as Vocational Service month in the ROTARY INTERNATIONAL calender and its marked with different activities.
